A Scrappy, Rainbow Mini Plaid-ish Quilt

A Scrappy, Rainbow Mini Plaid-ish Quilt

When I started this quilt during the Mini Plaid-ish QAL, I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into. My goal was to use unique fabrics for each piece (not use any fabrics twice) which ended up being more than my stash could handle.

First, I cut pieces from my scraps. Then I moved onto my stash. Even after going through my extensive stash, I still needed a few pieces so you might notice a couple of duplicates. I think there are around 6 duplicate fabrics in the quilt.

I decided from the beginning that I was going to use a single print for my light fabrics (I ended up using leftovers from this 108" Speckled print). Doing this was really helpful because it helped unify all of the other craziness going on in the quilt.

Even after all of that work, it was 100% worth it. This was the most satisfying project I have made in a while. If you aren't planning to use unique fabrics, this is a much more approachable projects, but if you want something extra special, try to make them all unique!

I did use luxe minky for the backing of the quilt (I bought mine from this shop) which I am very happy with. Just like I have done in the past with luxe minky quilts, I used my machine to sew my binding onto the back of the quilt and then hand sewed it to the front (the opposite of what I normally do).
