The Ruby Quilt in Lil
Today I get to tell you all about the quilt on the cover of the Ruby Quilt Pattern which was made with a new collection called Lil by Kimberly Kight.

When I am designing quilts, I usually start out by picking a fabric collection and then play around with ideas using those fabrics. More than half of the time, I will end up using that collection for the pattern cover quilt and that was true for this pattern.

I really fell in love with the oranges, reds, pinks, and yellows in this collection and how those warm colors worked with the cooler colors. My goal was to design a pattern where the fabrics in the collection were equally represented and you could see how all of the colors worked together.

Added bonus: this design worked out really well for all kinds of precuts. This quilt on the cover used a jelly roll which gave it lots of variety.

One of my favorite things about Kim's collections is that she has the BEST florals and Lil has a new favorite. I used the dark blue floral s the backing fabric and just love it so much.

It also felt appropriate that the Ruby Quilt have a Ruby Star Society collection on the cover!
