The Penny Quilt Pattern Mockups!

The Penny Quilt Pattern Mockups!

Even though I’ve shared plenty of Penny Quilt mockups (see some of them here) in the past, of course I had to make a few more now that the pattern has been updated. I was able to create mockups for most of your requests (thank you for all the great ideas!) — including one for a king size Penny Quilt. So make sure to scroll through for lots of visual inspiration.

Why I ❤️ the Penny Quilt

The Penny Quilt Pattern is one of my most versatile designs. It’s now completely fat quarter friendly, which means you can use bundles you’ve been saving, or pull from your stash for a scrappier look. With sizing options from baby all the way up to king, this pattern really works for just about any occasion — baby gifts, couch quilts, or even a statement piece for your bed.

The block construction is simple but creates so much movement, and it looks amazing in everything from bold, modern fabrics to soft, vintage-inspired collections. That’s why I love making these mockups — it shows how dramatically the quilt can change depending on the fabrics you choose.

The New Mockups

It’s always so fun to see how the Penny Quilt adapts to different styles — sometimes the same pattern can look like two completely different quilts just by switching fabric collections.

Plan Your Own Penny Quilt

If you’re planning to make your own version, don’t forget:

  • You can use fat quarters or fat eighths.

  • Choosing a background fabric with good contrast will make your feature fabrics shine

  • The pattern comes together faster than you might expect, so it’s a great “reward project” when you need a quick finish

And if you like to plan ahead, there’s also a coloring sheet included with the pattern that you can download to test out your fabric choices before cutting.
