The Phoebe Quiltalong Week 4 - Piecing (Part 2)
This week we are sewing our blocks together.
There are no seams within the block that need to match up so this block is pretty forgiving The most important thing will be that your pieces all start and end in the same place (so that the edges are even-ish) and that your block is square. The best thing to help with that is . . .
Pinning. Yes, I know I keep saying that, but it does help.
As far as picking which fabrics to put together in your block, just try to mix things up as much as possible. Try to have different prints, colors, values, etc. within the block. If you do end up using the same print, color, or value within the same block, just don't put them next to each other.
Tip: if you end up with a block that has a fabric combination you don't love, use it for the edge of the quilt. I do it all of the time!
Just like last week, I am pressing all of my seams open. Your block should end up 10.5" square. Keep going until you have made all of them.
We will cover cutting the corner and side setting blocks next week along with the quilt top construction.
