The Bonnie Quilt in Maven
Have you seen Maureen Cracknell's newest collection, Maven? I got to make this Bonnie Quilt for the collection lookbook and I fell in love with it.
I have actually used Maureen's fabrics several times and I love her folksy style. She also made one of my favorite-ever purple prints and I think she does red better than any other fabric designer out there (and I don't even particularly like red).
The collection has a really pretty distribution of color and of different shades which makes it easy to use in a quilt. Lots of these prints are also great as blenders.
This is going to sound strange when I say it, but there is the prettiest bug print in the collection. I know I'm not the only one that feels that way because when I just checked shops, it is sold out lots of places. I liked it so much that I used it for the back of my quilt.
I made this quilt with fat quarters from the collection. It has a little less variety than using jelly roll strips or fat eighths, but was still plenty of variety for the quilt to look interesting. I love how seeing the fabrics used in different places within the blocks gives the quilt more movement.
Maven is available in shops now and the Bonnie Quilt is available in my shop!
