Pattern of the Week - The Violet Quilt

Pattern of the Week - The Violet Quilt

I have lots of favorites in my pattern library and they are favorites for different reasons. The Violet Quilt is one of my favorites because (1) it is great for highlighting larger scale prints, (2) it has lots of visual movement, (3) none of the feature fabrics in the quilt touch each other which means it is very forgiving when it comes to fabric choice and placement, and (4) it is fat quarter friendly.

Also, I just love a plus quilt and I love that this one is a little different than other ones out there.

Since this pattern has been around for more than 5 years, I have made it a few different times and even did an extensive quiltalong with it, plus I have included it in several mockup roundups that are all linked below.

Hello – getting ready to make this quilt, and notice that the cross is made up of five blocks. Are there any design reasons that I couldn’t cut 3 pieces, two 4.5 blocks and then one 4.5 × 12.5 strip for the middle, running from top to bottom? Just trying to avoid a few cuts and seams! 😬 Thank you!
