Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some FAQs that I get in my inbox frequently - I hope this is helpful!
Help! I'm having trouble with my downloaded pattern, what do I do?
Send me an email using the "Contact" option at the top of my website or respond to order confirmation email and let me know your order number. I am happy to email the pattern to you.
Are patterns available in both paper and PDF versions?
Most of them are - there are a couple of older patterns that are only available as PDFs. You can find the PDF versions here and the paper versions here.
I would like to make a pattern in a different size. Can you help me resize the pattern?
I wish I had time to do this, but it would take all of my time. Instructions are only provided for the sizes listed in the pattern.
A tutorial that I downloaded doesn't list fabric requirements, can you send them to me?
Most of the free tutorials in my shop are for scrap quilts or for single blocks so they do not have fabric requirements listed.
Do you sell patterns wholesale?
Yes, if you are a shop looking to carry my patterns or you would like your local shop to carry my patterns, you can find my wholesale patterns here or contact me to be invoiced for the patterns. Many of my patterns are available through distributors like Checker, Brewer, and E.E. Schenck.
Which sewing machine do you use?
I sew on a Janome MC6600p and absolutely love it.
Do you have a tutorial for big stitch binding?
Yes, I do! You can find the tutorial here. If you are looking for a list of my favorite big stitch binding supplies, you can find that here.
How long have you been quilting?
I started quilting when I was pregnant with my middle child - around March 2010.
Which patterns have had quiltalongs?
My goal is to have 2 quiltalongs per year. So far, I have done them for Luna, Carly, Tessa, Violet, and Penny.
Can I sell a quilt that I made using one of your patterns?
Yes! As long as you attribute the pattern to me and list the name of the pattern when selling the quilt, that is fine by me.
Can I copy a tutorial or a pattern for my guild?
Unfortunately, no. If you would like your group or guild to use a pattern or tutorial that I have written, you need to have each person purchase a copy of the pattern or download their own copy of the tutorial from my website.
Do you have any beginner patterns?
Yes! You can find those here.
Do any of your patterns use precuts?
Yes! I have written patterns that can be made from fat quarters, fat eighths, charm squares, layer cakes, and jelly rolls.
Can you post more about the books you listen to while quilting?
I try to share in my stories about books I particularly love, but I go through a TON of books. If you are interested, you can add me as a friend on Goodreads to see all of them.
Where are your favorite places to shop for fabric?
The two places I shop most often for fabric are the Fat Quarter Shop and Etsy, though I also buy from more curated shops like Sewtopia, Lark Cottons, etc. Some of my favorite Etsy shops are Jean Maries Fabrics and SojoFabrics. There are lots of great shops out there!
Which type of batting do you use?
My favorite type of batting is lower loft cotton. My favorite specific brand is Quilter's Dream Cotton Select.
Which programs do you use to write your patterns?
I use Affinity Designer for graphics and Affinity Publisher for pattern layout. My paper patterns are printed through Smartpress.
Do you have a list of pattern corrections?
Yes! As soon as I find an error (which has luckily only happened a few times!) I update the PDF copy and send out a new version to everyone who has already purchased it. Sometimes, a paper version with an error gets circulated before I catch it. You can find my corrections page here.
