The Orla Quilt in AGF Pure Solids

The Orla Quilt in AGF Pure Solids

This is the Orla Quilt made up in AGF Pure Solids! I am loving this combination of colors right now and I love them in the quilt even more.

For my most recent patterns, I have been trying to make one of the samples from either solids or basic prints for a couple of different reasons.

  • Unlike collections which will go out of stock a few months after a pattern is released, solids and basics tend to stick around long-term. If you are reading this post five years from now, you should be able to find all of these colors in stock and be able to make a quilt just like this one.
  • Solids show the pattern more clearly. I love working with prints, but seeing a quilt made in solids simplifies the pattern visually.

This quilt was made using AGF Pure Solids, though you could find similar colors from most of the major fabric companies that have a line of solids.

Before you ask: I do not have a list of the solids that I used. Yet. I pulled most of these from a bin of Pure Elements scraps in my sewing room and I tried to construct a list of the colors that I used, but I didn't feel like I could be 100% sure about a few of the shades so I have a color card on the way and I will post the colors when it arrives.

I do know that I used Sweet Macadamia for the background fabric and it is is so pretty. It feels like a pinky/peachy neutral.

For the backing fabric, I used a 108" wide Art Gallery print called Picnic on the Meadow. I ordered this print recently without a specific plan, but I had already started working on this quilt top and they ended up being a perfect match.

The binding fabric is Pure Solids in Weathered Brick. I have used this shade as a binding fabric several times and I'm not stopping — it somehow works with everything and ties the quilt together nicely.

If you would like to make a quilt just like this one, I will post the list of solids that I used very soon! You can pick up a copy of the Orla Quilt Pattern in my shop now.
