The Gracie Quilt in Tula Pink Solids
I have a bit of a backlog of quilts to share - oops! Things have been busy over here. I actually didn't realize that I hadn't shared this quilt until I went to update my 2022 Quilts page and realized that I didn't have a blog post to link to.
The Gracie Quilt can be made from 3 different cuts of fabric: layer cake squares (see example here), scraps (see example here), or fat eighths. This quilt, which I made using Tula Pink Solids, uses fat eighths.
There are lots of different brands of solid fabrics out there - some have lots of variety, some are more muted, some have different textures, etc. The great thing about Tula Pink solids, which are made by FreeSpirit Fabrics and are a subset of their Designer Essential Solids line, are that they are curated. Even though you may not have as much variety as you will see with Kona or Bella solids, the fabrics all work well together and there are some BRIGHT color! Love that.
I have built up a little collection of the fabrics and decided to use them with one of my favorite basics - Tula Pink Fairy Dust. I have used this fabric a couple of other times and wish I had a bolt of it. Both the Whisper and Cotton Candy colors are excellent and I have used them both previously (check out Whisper in the Iris Quilt and Cotton Candy in the Taylor Quilt).
For this quilt I used Cotton Candy because that is what I had. For the background fabric, I used Designer Essential Solids in Putty.
The backing fabric is (ha ha!) another Fairy Dust. This time it's the Blush color.
