The Daphne Quilt in Sugar Maple
Wow, did I love making this quilt. Alexia Abegg's fabrics are always so warm and inviting and I particularly loved how the blues brightened up the colors in Sugar Maple. It was perfect for the Daphne Quilt Pattern.
The magic in this quilt pattern comes from the harmony of pattern and color working together. I have now made this pattern using 2 different FQ bundles (this one and one that is more solid-adjacent) and once using scraps and each time I ended up liking the fabrics more in the quilt than I did before I started sewing. Pretty fun.
Sugar Maple was such a fun bundle for this pattern because it has a great range of color, print, and value. Distributing these throughout the quilt gives the project lots of visual movement.
My favorite prints in the collection were the brighter blues because I feel like we rarely see this shade of blue in fabric collection, especially when combined with mostly warmer tones. The stripes are also gorgeous and would make an excellent striped binding!
My binding fabric is the Navy Petal print from the collection (I love a dark binding print) and my backing fabric is the Vintage Blue Block print. I will definitely be stocking up on more of the Vintage Blue for my stash, it's so pretty!
This project was quilted by Heidi of Piece and Joy Quilting Co. using a fun floral pantograph called Posy Patch (by Julie Hirt). As usual, she did a beautiful job and was super helpful in suggesting pantographs that would work well with the pattern.
Sugar Maple is available in now and you can find the Daphne Quilt pattern in my shop as both a PDF and paper pattern!
