New Pattern - The Sylvie Quilt
Sylvie Quilt with you! This one has been floating around in my brain for a while and I finally made it happen.
You have no idea how excited I have been to share the If you have been around here for a while and have heard me talk about pattern writing, you know that I have a few different goals when writing patterns. These goals vary a little - I like to have variety and keep things interesting, but I also want to be true to myself as a quilter. This new pattern, the Sylvie Quilt, checks some important boxes:
- This pattern is quick! I know my pattern testers didn't really believe me when I told them how fast it was, but several of them mentioned to me that they were pleasantly surprised that I wasn't lying to them. This is one that I can cut out and sew in a single day if I have a good block of sewing time.
- It is a great way to show off your fabric - you aren't cutting anything into tiny pieces and the strips are wide enough to really let your fabric shine.
- It works well with prints, solids, large scale prints, small scale prints, everything!
- The pattern doesn't require a large cut of background fabric. Certainly background fabric has its place and sometimes I like a pattern to have a lot of negative space, but it is nice to be able to use fabrics from my stash instead of more background fabric. It is a great stashbuster.
If that doesn't make you want to make your own version of the Sylvie Quilt Pattern, wait until you see my pattern testers' quilts later this week. I was totally blown away!
Later this week I will be sharing their quilts and more about my own version of the quilt - you can pick up your own copy of the pattern in the shop.
