A Scrappy Rifle Paper Co. Kristen Quilt

A Scrappy Rifle Paper Co. Kristen Quilt

I’m so excited to finally share my scrappy Rifle Paper Co. Kristen Quilt with you! This quilt was the spark behind this year’s series of scrap-friendly quiltalongs, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to show you how it turned out.

There are a lot of things I’m passionate about when it comes to quilting — I love fabric, I love quilts in general — but two of my favorite things are Rifle Paper Co. fabrics and scrap quilts. This isn’t my first RPC scrap quilt (see here, here, and here)and it definitely won’t be my last. The collections are beautiful on their own, but they also work so well when mixed and matched.

My Approach to a Scrappy Kristen Quilt

For this quilt, my goal was to use a unique fabric for each block, and I think I pulled it off! Some of the smaller accent pieces are duplicated, but I made a point to use what I had on hand as much as possible.

I did purchase background fabric because I knew I had a low of low volume prints and didn't want to use a white or cream solid that wouldn't stand out. I ended up buying this pretty Primavera Stars print. I love how it pulls everything together and adds just the right amount of contrast.

Quilt Backing, Binding, and Quilting Details

The backing print was from my stash and I liked that it used the blush color from the front of the quilt which felt like it reigned in the chaos a bit. I did end up buying a binding print because I didn't have enough yardage of a RPC print and I didn't want to use a solid so I picked up some of this Menagerie Silhouette in black. For the quilting, I did a serpentine stitch and I love the texture it gives to the finished quilt.
