A New Pattern - The Iris Quilt
I am so excited to finally be able to share this quilt with you! My most popular quilt pattern has been my Tessa Quilt and I frequently have people ask me if that quilt is jelly roll or fat quarter friendly (it's not). A few months ago, I started to try to create a similar pattern that was jelly roll or fat quarter friendly.
And after a few months of playing around with different options, I came up with the Iris Quilt which is jelly roll AND fat quarter AND scrap friendly. It was worth the wait.
Since this is an extra special pattern, I thought it deserved some extra special fabric - this collection is Tula Pink's True Colors and it is a BRIGHT. I am obsessed with the fabric that I used for the sashing - it is just so good.
Both the jelly roll and fat quarter friendly versions are of the pattern are both strip pieced so this quilt comes together surprisingly quickly. Normally I try to make 2 versions of a pattern before I release it, but I couldn't help myself with this one - I've already made 3.
I will be sharing more about this quilt tomorrow and will share my pattern testers' quilts on Friday. If you would like to pick up a copy of the Iris Quilt, head over to the shop!

I bought the pre-cut kit thinking it would make the twin size. Now I am halfway done, and I do not have enough fabric! can anyone tell me where to get more of the fabric that came in the kit? It is not what’s shown on the pattern—-it’s the daisy like fabric that came in the kit. I can’t find any phone number for “Kitchen Table Quilting”

The sashing is cut to fit the number of blocks and it does require a very consistent scant quarter inch. The key to putting this together is to figure out your rows. It does take keeping track of where you like up the blocks. NO block should have more than nine color bricks. (I had to re-do a couple where I had missed this).
The longest sashing piece is 22.5" (cut/ 22" finished) and that is for the 9 piece block.
As for cutting, try lining up the cut running through the center of the small squares plus a quarter on the outside so your quilt will finish with your points of the square on the outer edge of the quilt. Draw lines with washable pen or chalk and they should meet at the corners this will give you a cutting line apporximation

I agree will Sally Livia. This pattern I very complicated. The kit I bought said for beginners. My Mom and I figure the 40 plus years of quilting between the two of us this quilt would be a piece of cake. We bought this as a kit and every thing was pre cut for us. We made the require sets of 2,5,7 and 9strip blocks and have over 165 strips left. Is there a mistake in the pattern or what are we doing wrong. Please help us all out.

I’m sorry I purchased this kit. It doesn’t make sense to me and there is no tutorial online that I can find to assist with the terrible instructions.

I have been quilting for over 20 years and I have never had so much difficulty putting a quilt together. I spent long days trying to figure it out. I was totally lost. I now finally have it together (I think) but have no idea how to trim it. If I cut wrong, I’ve ruined the entire quilt. I would love to see a tutorial on how to trim it.

Is there a tutorial for this quilt? I too am totally lost.

I am a newbie to quilting. I ordered the iris quilt complete set. Is there an online tutorial that goes along with making the quilt. I am reading the instructions but am totally lost. Thank you.

I’m having trouble determining what the strips widths/sashing lengths should be. I used jelly rolls, cut these completedstrips into 20” lengths, then tried to add the sashing (sashing too short for that length). I re-read the instructions and think I have correctly determined all the strips should be 6 1/2” long but the sashing doesn’t fit perfectly. HELP… I’ve invested a lot of time into what I’ve already done—now having trouble getting the sashing to fit. Don’t want to mess up everything trying to get the pieces to fit properly
