The Luna Quilt in Reverie
While I am wrapping up my 2022 quilt finishes, I figured I would go ahead and share the second quilt that I made as part of the Luna Quiltalong (you can view the scrappy one here).
I had the Reverie jelly roll in hand before the quiltalong began and I decided to challenge myself to use a non-white, non-light gray background fabric for the quilt. The collection is super colorful and has a wide range of shades so I knew there would be lots of potential options.
I ordered Spark in Peony and Speckled in Succulent to give myself options. Both fabric choices would have worked, but I fell in love with the Succulent/Reverie combo.
This collection is so, so good and worked really well with this pattern because there was a good mix of values in addition to all of the colors. It made fabric placement nice and easy.
I ended up loving the quilt top so much that I splurged on backing and binding fabric from Reverie. The backing fabric is the Meander print in Galaxy (love it!) and the binding fabric is the Goldfish Breeze print. While I normally prefer a solid binding fabric, this print in combination with the Succulent background fabric and all of the colors was just perfect.
Instead of doing my normal crosshatch, I quilted close-ish straight lines and I used 40wt thread (instead of my normal 50wt) to help the quilting stand out a little more. I think I need to start using 40wt more often.
If you would like to make your own Reverie Luna Quilt, you can find the Reverie collection in shops and the Luna Quilt pattern at kitchentablequilting.com.
