The Charlotte Quilt in Grunge
Oh I am so glad that I went against my better judgement and made 2 quilts for the Charlotte Quiltalong. Originally I was just planning on making a quilt using Poppy Seeds from Laundry Basket Quilts (I am still working on getting this one quilted!), but when I mocked up the pattern using these warm Grunge colors, I couldn't resist. Getting to make 2 different versions was just what I needed.

Charlotte Meets Grunge
The Charlotte Quilt is one of my most flexible patterns. It looks dramatically different depending on your fabric choices, and Grunge is perfect because it has depth, texture, and variation without overwhelming the block design.
To be totally honest, I have never even thought about using Grunge in a quilt top before, but I don't know why! The number of color options available make it a great choice and I definitely think that I will be using it more in the future.

Why I Love the Charlotte Quilt Pattern
✨ Precut Friendly – Works beautifully with fat quarters, jelly rolls, or even scraps from your stash.

✨ Multiple Sizes – Instructions are included for baby, lap, twin, queen, and king sizes.
✨ Beginner-Friendly-ish but Engaging – Straightforward piecing makes it great for newer quilters, but it’s still a satisfying project for experienced quilters.
✨ Fabric Versatility – Whether you’re sewing with a curated bundle or pulling from your scrap bin, this pattern highlights your fabrics in the best way.

Fabric + Backing + Binding Details
For my quilt, I picked every variety of Grunge that fell in the pink/orange/yellow range. You can find the full list of colors right here.
For the backing (and the background fabric) I took a bit of a gamble and went for the color Manilla. It was a little risky because I wasn't sure how this tone of off-white would work with my warm colors, but it ended up perfect. I used the regular width for the background fabric and the wide width for the backing.

When I was ordering my fabric, I did order a few extra colors so I had some wiggle room if some of the colors didn't quite fit in. The Ash Rose color was a little darker than I wanted so I didn't use it in my quilt top, but it was perfect for the binding.
