Quilt As-You-Go for Scrap Lovers (plus giveaway)
You know how I feel about scraps — love them! — so when the nice piece over at C&T Publishing asked if I would do a review of Judy Gauthier's new book Quilt As-You-Go for Scrap Lovers, I didn't take too much convincing 😂
Even though I write my own patterns, I love to look and be inspired by patterns in books and magazines. This book is very practical in the sense that it uses lots of little pieces of fabric and will be a great use of scraps, but it is also inspiration because the quilts that Judy put together are gorgeous and they make me want to start digging through my scrap bins.
She does a really gorgeous job of creating a color palette for her quilts that makes them look scrappy but not chaotic and she walks you through picking colors in the book. If you are wondering how to make your scrap quilts look a little more cohesive, this is a great resource.
This book also describes how to quilt as-you-go. If you have never done this before, it's a way to quilt small sections of your quilt and then join those sections together. This is a great method if you don't enjoy quilting an entire project at once or if you have had lots of issues with your quilt shifting. Smaller pieces are just easier to quilt.
Even if you aren't interested in the quilt as-you-go aspect of the book, you could still make the patterns. If you have never tried quilt as-you-go, it's a fun way to quilt your project.
C&T Publishing would like to giveaway a digital copy of this book to one of you! Click here to enter to win the giveaway. One entry per person please. I will pick a winner on November 20th.
