Pattern of the Week - The Frances Quilt
Learn About the Frances Quilt Pattern: A Beginner-Friendly Design
The Frances Quilt Pattern, released in April 2020, has had quite the quilty journey. I made the original quilt top several years before I started writing patterns. This was one of my first holiday quilts and it holds a special place in my quilting journey.
Perfect for Beginners and Advanced Quilters Alike
The Frances Quilt Pattern is ideal for beginners, featuring only squares and bordered squares. However, it’s also perfect for more advanced quilters due to its versatility with color, value, and rainbow-y design potential.
Versatile Fabric Options
This pattern offers flexibility in fabric choices. You can create a scrappier look using fat quarters or opt for a rainbow layout with various cuts, all 1/2 yard or smaller. It’s also a fantastic pattern for utilizing scraps, including rainbow scraps or making a value-based scrap quilt.
Connecting Quilt Patterns Through Names
If the Frances Quilt Pattern seems familiar, you might be thinking of the Fiona Quilt Pattern. Both patterns share a common design element and start with the letter F. I like to link quilt patterns by using the same first letter or different nicknames, just like with Libby, Eliza, and Betty (all nicknames for Elizabeth).
Hint: If you enjoyed the Iris Quilt, keep an eye out for the Irene Quilt, coming this summer!
