How to Use Fabric in Your Stash When You Just Want to Buy New Fabric
I know that title is a mouthful, but this is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. My fabric stash is quite large and if I'm not careful, I can get carried away with buying new prints and forget about the fabrics that I already have.
If you find yourself in the same boat, here are some suggestions to help you use what you have.
This is such a fun way to get a little more creative with your fabric choices! Many fabric designer's have collections that go well together and the resulting combination gives the quilt a little more of a scrappier look. Plus your project will be a little more unique than others out there using the same collection.
I cut scrap pieces from my stash all of the time! Especially for colors that I don't use very often (and thus don't end up with many scraps for those colors).
This type of quick project is great for your creativity as well because it feels so good to finish something. I love to make new pillow covers for my living room since they are both useful and creative.
If you are looking for ideas on what types of projects work well for scrap busting, don't worry! I'm putting together a list and should have it ready for you next week.
Of course using the fabric that you already have makes sense financially, but it is also great environmentally and will help you stay creatively clear and ready to make more quilts! If you have your own suggestions for using the fabrics you already have, leave them in the comments!

Thanks for sharing. I follow a lot of fellow quilters and I’m active in the wonderful quilting community on Reddit. Your blog and Instagram posts have helped me so much in my quilting journey. I really loved following your family’s great European adventure. I hope all goes well for you and your loved ones in the days to come.

My goodness that’s a lot going on. I hope you have a lovely vacation celebrating your Grandmother’s 90th (!!!) birthday—-a very happy birthday to her—-and best wishes for a good visit with your Mom and Step-dad. May his surgery go well on Monday, and he have an uneventful and speedy recovery. Also good thoughts and wishes for your Mother- and Father-in-law.

WOW – always a pleasure to dance through the garden of quilts! “Back in the day” quilts were made from old clothes, scraps, flour sacks, and then I got picky – things had to “match”. Well your quilts are a delight of color and pattern and they all “play well” together! Thanks so much!!!!!
