The Kara Quilt in Unruly Nature
This version of the Kara Quilt is going in my top 5 favorite makes of the year. The colors in Unruly Nature are perfect for fall and I love the little metallic accents on some of the fabrics. I had previously used this collection to make my Diana Quilt and loved it so much that I have been looking for a project to use the collection again.
The fabric collection was designed by Jen Hewett and it has a great variety of different floral prints and I love all of the warm colors. She designed a fabric collection a few years ago called Imagined Landscapes that I really enjoyed, but this one is even better.
I didn't realize when I was quilting this project that I quilted it almost the same way as the First Light version of the quilt — I guess I really felt like this was the right way to quilt it. The lines on this one are a little closer together, probably more like 1 1/2" apart, and they make the quilt nice and drape-y.
Once again, I couldn't help myself and bought yardage for the backing of the quilt. When I am using leftovers from previous projects, I have a very easy time talking myself into splurging on regular old full priced yardage for the back. It was well worth it in this case and the backing fabric is one of my favorite parts of the quilt.
Unruly Nature is in shops now and Jen has a new collection called Floradora coming out soon that I am very excited about. You can find the Kara Quilt pattern (PDF or paper version) in my shop.
