The Charlotte Quilt in Poppy Seeds
Do you ever finish a quilt and feel like giving yourself a little round of applause? That was exactly how I felt when I finished up this Charlotte Quilt Pattern. I’m so proud of how it turned out!

The Poppy Seeds collection by Laundry Basket Quilts is one of those fabric lines that looks good in just about anything, but I especially love how the colors shine in this pattern.

Jelly Roll-Friendly and Scrap-Savvy
This is the lap size version of the Charlotte Quilt, which uses more than one jelly roll. My original plan was to combine my favorite strips from two jelly rolls and pair them with yardage for the background. But someone suggested I try using the extra low-volume strips as part of the background — and it was the perfect idea (thank you, I wish I remembered who suggested this!).

The Poppy Seeds jelly rolls included plenty of low-volume strips, which added a fun, scrappy look to the quilt AND made the quilt a little more economical.

Simple Quilting + Striking Backing
For the quilting, I kept it classic and clean with a simple grid. It complements the structure of the pattern and lets the fabrics be the star.

The backing fabric was a bit outside my usual comfort zone — it’s also from Laundry Basket Quilts, so it coordinates beautifully with the Poppy Seeds collection. I had originally planned to use a pretty Farmer's Daughter print, but when it wasn’t available, I decided to lean into the earthier, neutral tones in the collection and I love how it contrasts with the quilt top.
Purple Binding, Of Course 💜
The binding is purple. It's my favorite color — I had to do it!

Ready to Make Your Own?
I’m so glad the Charlotte Quilt Pattern won the last quiltalong vote. Making two versions for this pattern has been such a joy, and I’m already excited for the next quiltalong starting in February!
