My Violet Quilt
Violet Quilt Pattern! I wanted to share a little more about my quilt, which I made using some beloved Anna Maria Horner prints.
A while back, I picked up a fat quarter bundle of AMH's gorgeous Dowry collection. Whenever I buy FQ bundles I am always so afraid to cut into them - they are so pretty wrapped up in ribbon - but this one has been calling my name!
This year I am trying to use some of my favorite fabrics that have been sitting unused on my shelves and, honestly, it has been the BEST thing. I have been using fabric that I love and because I love them so much, they have inspired me to create new projects.
I ended up mixing in a few other favorite AMH prints and then used Designer Essential Solids in Natural for the background fabric. It is my go-to background color lately. Since I have 3 kids (and occasionally a few foster kids) in the house, I don't like to use stark white solids in too many of my projects. This Natural solid is the perfect off-is white/tan color that almost seems a little gray in the right light.
For the backing fabric, I used my favorite Dowry print. The binding fabric is Spiceberry by Art Gallery Fabrics - it is a gorgeous purple-y/red and it perfectly matches the same purple-y red that is in a few of the prints.
The quilting is (my favorite) moderately-dense organic grid - such a great texture!
Head over to the shop to find the patter, available in both PDF and paper versions.
