A Fat Quarter Zola Quilt

A Fat Quarter Zola Quilt

I have been rounding up some finishes over here and finally finished the binding on this fat quarter Zola quilt. I used a variety of sherbet-inspired Cotton Couture colors this time and I love how different it looks from the ombre version that I originally made.

Because the colors have a more random layout, they give the quilt a lot of movement and the bright colors pack a lot of punch. Plus, it uses fat quarters! I happen to know that most quilters have a few of those sitting around waiting to be used. Instructions for both the rainbow and fat quarter versions are included in the pattern.

These colors are definitely on the girly side, but I think the pattern also works with with more masculine colors and would be super fun with seasonal colors (think 4th of July, Halloween, fall colors, or Christmas). One of those may be happening soon, hint hint :)

For the backing fabric I used Gingham Play which is a new favorite. It is just the right balance of fun-but-not-distracting that I like for backing fabrics.

This one wasn't on my to-be-finished in September list (because it was on my to-be-finished in August list!) but I really enjoyed finishing it up!
